Healthy Eating

The Awesome Owls and the Clever Kiwis combined our brain powers together. We decided to make fruit salad and sandwiches to make good food choices.

We used spreads like Vegemite, peanut butter, and jam and a little bit of butter to spread over our bread.

We also found out that we should be eating heaps and heaps of fruit and vegetables because they are good for our brains and  body.
           First, we cut the apples
Then we cut the banana and added it to the apples in the bowl
Then we added grapes to the rest of the mixture
Then we mixed all the fruits together
Then we sat and enjoyed our healthy meal.

"We found out that eating healthy is yum!" Max

"We need to drink water so we don't get dry skin" Sophie

"We only eat a little bit of chocolate and cake" Travis

Maths Strand- Measurement (Length)

For Maths strand - looking at length we are investigating who has the biggest feet and hands in the Clever Kiwis.

We traced our hands and coloured it in
    Rosalynn colouring in her feet
Then we cut and laminated our feet and hands. Omayda laminated her hand and feet
Adel helping to laminate her hand and feet
Teremoana helping to laminate her friends hand and feet

Then we ordered our feet from the biggest to the smallest
Then we ordered our hands from the biggest and smallest
Now we are using it as a maths tumble
We found out that ROSALYNN had the biggest feet.
Biggest hand: Hazel had the biggest hands
Vocabulary developed:
Biggest, smallest, bigger than, smaller than, wide, fat.

"It plays music when I open it..... See"

The Kiwis asked really great questions such as
"What presents did you get?"
"Did you have a big cake or a little cake?"
Max answered "I had a little cake" which was humbling to know.

Max happy birthday to you and welcome to the Clever Kiwis!

Rubbish Audit

We are learning to be environmental warriors. We went to the hall to see what our school rubbish is made up of and we found a lot of milk cartons and food uneaten being thrown away. We walked away wondering where does all that rubbish go?

"That is a lot of rubbish" said Sapphire
" Can we make the rubbish smaller? Lihai asked

This leads to our inquiry question "where does our rubbish go?

Watch this space for more investigation led by the Clever Kiwis.

Road safety Week

             ROAD SAFETY WEEK
This week is Road Safety Week
We need to make sure we use the zebra crossing when we cross the road. Being safe is holding an adults hand when we cross the road and stop, look and listening to oncoming vehicles. We also need to wear a safety belt at all times.

Rainbow writing

We are learning to write the letter Tt in five different colours.
Ceezar and Joshua are doing such an awesome job of writing the letter t

Constable Glenys

We had a visit from our community Constable Glenys to teach us about how to be safe on the streets and in our car.

Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS)

FMS is an essential component to our physical education program. Coach Manu and Coach Corey supports and develops skills that contributes to our children's gross motor skills. This week we learnt about how to side gallop.
 1) We warm up by side galloping to "Ring-a-Rosie"

"A tissue, a tissue we all fall down, fishes in the water, fishes in the sea, we all jump up with a 1, 2.....

2...............3333333!

Then we positioned our feet to face the stage
We practice side galloping walking and remembering to not touch the white line or else we get electrocuted
Then we add a bounce to it and side gallop to the other side of the hall
WARM DOWN: We side gallop on the line to gallop away from Coach Corey and Coach Manu who tags us and then we have to sit down and out of the game.
 Leyon is the WINNER!!
